Markets to visit in 2022
1. Lincoln Christmas Market
1st to 4th Dec 2022 | Castle Hill, Lincoln. LN1 3AA.
This unique Christmas market is located within and around Lincoln Castle and features over 150 stalls across the entire Cathedral Quarter as well as a family funfair. Lincoln was the first city to host a traditional German Christmas market in the UK and the market has been running for 40 years having began in 1982 with just 11 stalls. There is no parking within walking distance of the Christmas Market so all cars should use the dedicated Park and Ride service which operates from the Lincolnshire Showground just north of Lincoln.

2. York Christmas Market
17th November – 23rd December – Parliament Square and St Sampson’s Square
Also known as St Nicholas Fair, York Christmas Market hosts 70 alpine chalets, bedecked in fairy lights, selling artisan gifts and local foods. Sample traditional Swiss food at The Winter Hütte, accompanied by a glass of gluhwein or spiced cider. Alternatively, walk along the medieval city walls, stroll through The Shambles or visit the magnificent York Minster.

3. Edinburgh Christmas Market
25th Nov – 3rd Jan - East Princes Street Gardens
Explore Edinburgh Christmas Market with a cup of mulled Irn Bru and browse decorative stalls for handmade gifts and street food. You can also visit the fairground at Santa Land or meet Santa in the grotto. If you fancy some respite from the festivities, climb up to Arthur’s Seat, dine at one of the restaurants or take a tour of the castle.

4. Southbank Christmas Market
3rd Nov – 26th Dec – Southbank, London
Rows of rustic wooden chalets draped in fairy lights can be found at Southbank Christmas Market where you can shop for unique gifts and handmade decorations. The market is alive with festive performances and carol singers and its riverside setting on the Thames is just magical. Why not take a ride on the London Eye and see the city’s Christmas lights from above.

5. Oxford Christmas Market
1st – 18th Dec – Broad Street
The sound of carol singers and the rich aroma of mulled wine fills the air at Oxford Christmas Market where traders from around the world sell everything from jewellery to artwork. Tuck into a hog roast or some chocolate-dipped churros as you soak up the festive atmosphere. While you’re there, explore the city’s famous university buildings or visit the Bridge of Sighs.
