The net sheds in Hastings are a site to behold. There are 43 sheds in total but, in the heyday of fishing in Hastings, there were 112 of them. Used for storing nets, the sheds are tall and thin as the fishermen each had a limit of 8ft square so had no option but to go skyward and use ladders inside for access.
Unique to Hastings, the sheds are still in use today by working, local fisherman. The more recently added Jerwood gallery has clearly been designed with a degree of inspiration from the sheds.
We want to make it easy to find new and interesting places to visit. We research, visit and photograph every place ourselves and use our website, app and books to help inspire people to discover new things.
This book arrived this week, and I have already planned many trips from it! It's fantastic! I'd recommend it to anyone looking for reasonably priced food stops of all varieties! ★★★★★
