Judge’s Lodging

About
As grand and imposing as many of York’s iconic buildings, this Grade I listed Georgian townhouse blends in seamlessly with the city. Judge’s Lodging not only boasts a beautiful façade, but its interior is equally as striking. Sophisticated but not showy, the townhouse has been given a tasteful makeover with elegant wallpapers and contemporary installations that complement original features such as marble fireplaces and huge shuttered windows.

Food and Drink
Dining in the stunning Georgian restaurant, 1711, is a real treat with its swanky design that rubs shoulders with period features. As a front runner in York’s best places to eat, 1711 has an AA Rosette under its belt for its inspired dishes showcasing the finest seasonal produce. Head downstairs to the Cellar Bar for something a little more casual and indulge in some rustic pub grub.

Rooms
Sympathetic to the building’s history; antique telephones, textured fabrics and bespoke furniture come together in harmony to create each of the individually designed bedrooms. While some rooms boast views of the Gothic York Minster, others look out onto the courtyard. The luxurious marble bathrooms and oh-so comfy beds might convince you to hang around a while longer in the morning.

Out and About
Hugged by the River Ouse and York Minster, locations don’t get much better than this. Judge’s Lodging stands on one of the city’s major shopping streets and is within a few minutes’ walk of the main attractions. There’s so much to do in York, you won’t need to venture very far, with the Jorvik Viking Centre, the city walls and York Minster right on your doorstep.
